There was plenty of drama at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex on a wet Thursday as the Panthers baseball team rallied for two walk-off wins over Corning, 12-11 and 9-8. Tompkins Cortland has now won three straight to improve to 3-11 overall and 3-7 in the West Division. Corning falls to 1-22 overall and 0-20 in division.
Down to their last out, the Panthers baseball team rallied back to pick up their first win of the year, beating Finger Lakes Community College 10-4 in 10 innings on Sunday. The win earned the Panthers a doubleheader split, with the Lakers winning the opener 12-2. Tompkins Cortland is now 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the West Division. Finger Lakes is 15-10 overall and 10-6 in division.
A back-and-forth opening game was followed by a lopsided game two as the Panthers baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Erie Community College Tuesday in Dryden. Tompkins Cortland is now 0-10 overall and 0-6 in the West Division. Erie is 18-9 overall and 10-0 in division.
Mother Nature strikes again. The away and home doubleheaders against Jamestown originally scheduled for April 4 and 6 have been postponed. The Panthers and Jayhawks will now play in Jamestown on April 30 and in Dryden on May 2. Both dates are doubleheaders set to begin at 2 p.m.
April is starting just like March ended for the Panthers baseball team - with changes to the schedule. The home doubleheader with Onondaga, originally schedule for March 23 and then postponed to April 2 has been rescheduled once again. The Panthers and Lazers will now play in Dryden on Tuesday, April 23.
In another schedule note, the home date with Erie, originally postponed on March 30, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 9.
The home doubleheader vs. Erie Community College on Saturday, March 30 has been postponed due to field conditions. A makeup date has not yet been determined.

Two members of the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team have been voted to the Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference team. Ledy Alvarez (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Americano) and Kannon VanDuzer (Sayre, Penn./Sayre Area H.S.) were recognized in voting done by the coaches from the seven teams in the conference. A total of 18 players were named to the baseball all-conference team.
The Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team ended the season with a split of a doubleheader with SUNY Broome on Wednesday, winning the opener 18-4 before dropping the finale 4-3. Tompkins Cortland ends the season with a record of 6-25 overall and 6-14 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome ends the year 5-31 overall and 3-17 in the MSAC.

One of the most improbable rallies in imagination saw the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team score eight runs with two outs in the seventh inning to take national power Niagara County Community College to extra innings Sunday. The upset bid fell short in the eighth inning, with #6-ranked Niagara pulling out a 13-12 win over the Panthers. The scheduled second game of the doubleheader was rained out, leaving Niagara with a record of 26-5 overall and 12-3 in the West Division. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-14 overall and 3-12 in the West.
Through the first 14 games of the season, the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team had only been shut out once heading into Sunday’s doubleheader at Finger Lakes Community College. But on Sunday, the normally reliable offense had a bad day and the Panthers were shutout in both games, losing 4-0 and 7-0. For the second time in three days, the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team has done something it had never done before in the history of the program. On Thursday, Ledy Alvarez (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Americano) became just the second player in program history to hit three home runs in one day, blasting two in the 15-5 win in game one before hitting another in the 11-8 loss in game two. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-9 overall and 3-7 in the West Division. Corning stands at 1-15 overall and in the West Division.
Kannon VanDuzer (Sayre, Penn./Sayre Area H.S.) put on quite a show Tuesday as the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team nearly staged an amazing comeback against Jamestown Community College. After losing the opener 11-1, the Panthers rallied from down 20-4 before coming up just short in the wild nightcap, losing 22-19. Tompkins Cortland is now 2-8 overall and 2-6 in the West Division. Jamestown improves to 5-15 overall and 4-6 in the West Division.
The Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team picked up its first wins of the year on Saturday, sweeping at doubleheader from Corning Community College, 13-2 and 4-2. The wins improve the Panthers to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the West Division. Corning drops to 0-12 both overall and in the West Division.

The baseball and softball games scheduled for Saturday, April 1 have been postponed due to the combination of new snow Wednesday night and the forecasted rain Friday and Saturday. Makeup dates for softball home vs. Monroe and baseball home vs. Jamestown are TBD.
The 2023 season got underway on Wednesday for the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team with the Panthers traveling to Auburn to take on Cayuga Community College. Taking on a strong Spartans team with several games under its belt, the Panthers had a solid showing, but ultimately fell by scores of 6-2 and 14-9. Tompkins Cortland is now 0-2 while Cayuga, a veteran squad with 11 players back from their Region 3 playoff team last year, is now 8-2.
