The Panthers baseball skid hit six games Sunday with a pair of losses at Onondaga Community College. The Panthers drop to 4-10 overall, 0-4 in the Region 3 West Division, and 2-8 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga improves to 8-4 overall, 4-0 in the West Division, and 6-2 in the MSAC.

Game One: Onondaga 2, Tompkins Cortland 0

Talfourd Wynne (Philadelphia/Indian River H.S.) had his second straight standout outing on the mound. The sophomore tossed a complete game, allowing just two unearned runs and only four hits. Unfortunately the offense couldn't pick him up, as the team mustered just three hits, including two from Keelan Marren (Skaneateles/Skaneateles H.S.).

Game Two: Onondaga 13, Tompkins Cortland 1 (five innings)

The Panthers scored their only run of the day in the second inning, tying the score at that point of the game when Dominic Zona (Rochester/Greece Arcadia H.S.) doubled in Eli Johnston (Cody, Wyo./Cody) to make the score 1-1 in the middle of the second. The tie only lasted until the bottom of the inning when the Lazers scored four to move back in front. Eight runs in the fourth gave the home team the cushion to end the game early due to the run rule.

Looking ahead

The Panthers have a pair of non-division dates coming up next, hosting Monroe Community College on Thursday and playing at Ithaca College JV on Sunday.
