The offensive struggles continued for Panthers baseball on Tuesday as the team dropped a doubleheader at Jamestown, 3-1 and 15-1, marking the ninth time this year the Panthers have scored one or fewer runs in game. TC3 is in now 7-21 overall and 3-11 in the Region 3 West Division. Jamestown improves to 10-18 overall and 6-10 in the West Division.
Game One: Jamestown 3, Tompkins Cortland 1
The Panthers wasted a solid game from starting pitcher Daniel Decker (New Windsor/Newburgh Free Academy). The freshman went six innings, allowing just three runs on five hits. The effort wasn't rewarded, however, as the Panthers managed just one run, which came when Dominic Zona (Rochester/Greece Arcadia H.S.) crossed the plate on a hit by Parker Seeley (East Rochester/Northstar Christian Academy) in the fourth inning. That run tied the game, but the Jayhawks scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.
Game Two: Jamestown 15, Tompkins Cortland 1 five innings
The solid pitching from game one didn't carry over to game two, as Jamestown ran away with game with six runs in the first inning and multiple runs in each of their at bats. Keelan Marren (Skaneateles/Skaneateles H.S.) was the only Panthers with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with the lone RBI.
Looking ahead
The Panthers and Jayhawks will square off again Thursday in Dryden. Game one starts at 2 p.m.
