The offense struggled to get going on Thursday as the Panthers baseball team dropped a pair of games to Jamestown Community College. Tompkins Cortland is now 5-25 overall and 5-21 in the West Division. Jamestown is 14-21 overall and 13-13 in the West Division.

Game One: Jamestown 9, Tompkins Cortland 0

The Panthers put runners on base in four of the seven inning, but couldn't push anything across the plate. Cody Sayre (Spencer/Spencer-Van Etten H.S.) had two hits in three at bats, and stole two bases. Dan Mrowinski (Syracuse/Solvay H.S.) and Bradley Addicott (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson H.S.) also reached safely as part of the team's four-hit total in the opener.

Game Two: Jamestown 7, Tompkins Cortland 1

The first run of the day for the Panthers gave the home team the lead in game two. In the second inning, Max Dydynski (Nichols/Tioga H.S.) doubled, scoring John Touchette (Tully/Tully H.S.) with the first run o of the game. Starting pitcher Collin Schneider (Utica/Notre Dame H.S.) made the 1-0 lead hold up through the first four innings, but his defense betrayed him in the fifth, allowing Jamestown to score four unearned runs. Another run in the sixth made it 5-1, and the Jayhawks tacked on two more in the seventh to provide the final margin.

Frank Marra (Millstone Townships, N.J./Allentown H.S.) and Jason Winstanley (Lewiston/Lewiston-Porter H.S.) each had singles as the Panthers managed just three hits in game two.

Looking ahead

The Panthers have a pair of doubleheaders with Genesee Community College this weekend. Saturday's game will be in Batavia, with Sunday in Dryden.
