The offensive struggles continue for Panthers baseball. Hosting Genesee Community College on Friday, the Panthers dropped a doubleheader 7-0 and 9-1. TC3 has now scored a total of five runs over the last eight games, including being shut out five times. The record stands at 4-16 overall, 0-6 in the Region 3 West Division, and 2-10 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Genesee improves to 13-12 overall, 4-4 in the West Division, and 5-1 in the MSAC.
Game One: Genesee 7, Tompkins Cortland 0
Game one starter Cole Goggan (Freeville/Dryden H.S.) was effective for the Panthers, working into the fifth inning and allowing just four hits and two runs. The offense put runners on base in five of the seven innings, including advancing to third base three times, but couldn't plate a run.
Game Two: Onondaga 9, Tompkins Cortland 1
The Panthers again threatened early in game two, advancing runners to third base twice in the first three innings. The breakthrough finally came in the seventh inning, with Brayam Zorrilla (Bronx/HS for Climate Justice) reaching base with one out and coming around to score the home team's lone run.
Looking ahead
The Panthers head to Canandaigua on Thursday for a doubleheader with Finger Lakes Community College.
