  • Long Voted NJCAA All-American
    April 11, 2025
    Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball player Javonte Long (Harlem/Clayton H.S.) has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American. He is the fourth player to earn All-American recognition in the history of the Panthers men's basketball program following Tyseem Lyles (2014), Jude Princivil (1995), and Khai Pugh (2024).
  • Long Voted Reg. 3 Player of the Year; Samuels All-Region

    Javonte Long (Harlem/Vineland H.S.) has done something no other player has done in the nearly 50-year history of men’s basketball at Tompkins Cortland Community College – he has been voted the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Year. The sophomore had previously been voted the Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, naming him the top player among the eight teams in the MSAC.  The Region 3 award was voted on by coaches from all 16 teams in the region. Long’s TC3 teammate Marqiis Samuels (Long Island/The Patrick School) was also voted to the all-region team, marking the first time the Panthers have had two players voted all region since Tyseem Lyles and Devin Redden did so in 2013-14.
  • Panthers Fall Short in Regional Semifinal

    For the second straight year, the Panthers men’s basketball season came to an end in the NJCAA Region 3 semifinal round after they pushed the top-seed team to the limit but came up just short. This year the Panthers nearly knocked off the nationally #3-ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks, falling short at the foul line in a 74-67 loss. Mohawk Valley advances to the Region 3 championship game on Sunday with a record of 25-1. The Panthers end the year 17-8.
  • Panthers Win to Advance to Regional Semifinals

    After overcoming a slow start, the Panthers men’s basketball team pulled away for an 85-65 win over SUNY Adirondack in the Region 3 quarterfinals on Friday at Herkimer College. The #4-seed Panthers now advance to take on #1-seed Mohawk Valley Community College in Saturday’s semifinal. Tip-off on Saturday is at 3 p.m. at Herkimer College.
  • Men Qualify as #4 Seed in NJCAA Region 3 Tournament

    Both Tompkins Cortland Community College basketball teams have qualified for the NJCAA postseason.
  • Long Voted MSAC Player of the Year; Samuels and Nwosu Join Him on All-MSAC Team

    Three members of the conference co-champion Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team have been voted to the Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference team, led by MSAC Player of the Year Javonte Long (Harlem/Clayton H.S.). Joining Long on the first team was Marqiis Samuels (Long Island/The Patrick School) and Kobe Nwosu (Spring Valley/North Rockland H.S.) earned a place on the third team. Both Long and Samuels are repeat all-conference selections, while the freshman Nwosu is making his first appearance on the team. It marks the second straight year that three Panthers have been voted all-conference, and the third time in program history. Sheldon Schuler (New Haven, Conn./Lee Academy Prep) received Honorable Mention.
  • Panthers Drop MSAC Finale, Finish as Conference Co-Champs

    A late rally couldn’t make up for a cold shooting night as the Panthers men dropped their regular-season finale 70-67 at Genesee Community College on Wednesday. The result leaves the Panthers and Cougars as co-champions of the Mid-State Athletic Conference with identical 12-2 records in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Run Away From Broome on Sophomore Day
    February 16, 2025
    After recognizing 11 players for Sophomore Day on Sunday, the Panthers men ran away with a 76-53 win over SUNY Broome. The eighth win in a row improves the Panthers to 16-6 overall and 12-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference, guaranteeing at least a share of the MSAC regular season title. Broome falls to 7-7 in conference and 9-15 overall.
  • Panthers Top Finger Lakes for Seventh Straight Win
    February 15, 2025
    The Panthers men extended their current winning streak to seven games with an 86-57 victory at Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday. The Panthers are now 11-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 15-6 overall. Finger Lakes drops to 8-4 in conference and 9-16 overall.
  • Nwosu Powers Panthers to Tenth MSAC Win
    February 13, 2025
    A huge game from Kobe Nwosu (Spring Valley/North Rockland H.S.) helped the Panthers hold on for a big conference win, 83-80 over Corning Community College on Thursday. The win improves the Panthers to 10-1 and still in first place in the Mid-State Athletic Conference, and 14-6 overall. Corning, the third-place team in the MSAC, drops to 8-4 in conference and 10-12 overall.

    The Panthers men’s basketball team picked up its fifth-straight win on Wednesday, taking a road game against Onondaga Community College 77-61. The Panthers improve to 13-6 and 9-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga drops to 5-18 overall and 2-7 in the MSAC.

    The Panthers men’s basketball team took the long trip north to take on Clinton Community College on Sunday, and came home with a hard-fought 78-76 win. The Panthers are now 12-6 while Clinton falls to 8-11.
  • Panthers Improve to 8-1 in MSAC with Win Over Cayuga

    The Panthers men’s basketball team won its fourth-straight Mid-State Athletic Conference game on Wednesday, beating Cayuga Community College 83-59 to improve to 8-1 in the MSAC this season. The Panthers also improved to 11-6 overall while Cayuga dropped to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the MSAC.

    It took some dramatic plays at the end of regulation and the first overtime just to force a second overtime, but in the end, the Panthers men basketball team escaped with an 88-86 double-overtime win over Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday. Tompkins Cortland improves to 10-6 overall and remains in first place in the Mid-State Athletic Conference with a conference record of 7-1. Finger Lakes drops to 6-11 overall and 3-4 in the MSAC.

    After tripping up and losing the last time out, the Panthers men’s basketball team traveled to Jefferson Community College on Wednesday looking to get back on track. From the opening tip, the Panthers took care of business, rolling to an 88-56 victory. Tompkins Cortland improves to 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson is now 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the MSAC.

    The Panthers men’s basketball team got back in the win column Thursday with a convincing 88-61 victory over Jefferson Community College. The win snaps a three-game skid and moves the Panthers to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson drops to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Return to Action vs. Nationally Ranked Monroe
    January 07, 2025
    The Panthers men’s basketball team returned to action Tuesday after a month-long break, traveling to Rochester to take on Division II Monroe Community College for a non-conference game. It was a rocky return, with the Panthers falling behind early and never recovering, falling by a final score of 95-64.  Tompkins Cortland is now 5-4 overall on the season, with all four losses coming to teams ranked in the top 15 in the nation. Monroe, the #15-ranked team in Division II, is now 12-2.

    The Panthers men’s basketball team ended the fall semester with a tough, one-point road loss to #3 ranked Mohawk Valley Community College, 71-70. Tompkins Cortland heads into the winter break with a record of 5-3 overall and 5-2 in Region 3. Mohawk Valley is 10-0 overall and 8-0 in region.

    The Panthers men’s basketball team five-game winning streak ended on Saturday with a 64-53 road loss to #4-ranked Herkimer College. Tompkins Cortland is now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 3. Herkimer is 7-1 overall and 6-1 in region.
  • Panthers Top North Country for Fifth Straight Win

    With a road win over North Country Community College on Saturday, the Panthers men’s basketball team has a five-game winning streak. The 88-74 final improves Tompkins Cortland to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in Region 3. North Country is 4-3 overall and 2-3 in region.
