
The Panthers men's basketball team won its fourth-straight Mid-State Athletic Conference game on Wednesday, beating Cayuga Community College 83-59 to improve to 8-1 in the MSAC this season. The Panthers also improved to 11-6 overall while Cayuga dropped to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the MSAC.
A pair of 3-pointers in the opening minutes by Israel Guerrido (Bronx/James Monroe H.S.) set the tone early, and the Panthers never looked back. The home never trailed in the game, and led by as many as 15 points in the first half. The margin grew to 29 in the second before settling on the final 24-point spread at the final horn.
Sheldon Schuler (New Haven, Conn./Lee Academy Prep) was one of four Panthers to connect on a 3-pointer, going 4-of-6 from behind the arc while scoring 18 points. Javonte Long (Harlem/Clayton H.S.)
Had another well-rounded stat line of 16 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Guerrido connected on 3-of-6 deep while scoring 11 points.
Looking ahead
The Panthers head north on Sunday to take on Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh.
