The Panthers men's basketball team five-game winning streak ended on Saturday with a 64-53 road loss to #4-ranked Herkimer College. Tompkins Cortland is now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 3. Herkimer is 7-1 overall and 6-1 in region.

It was the first game for the Panthers in two weeks, and the rust showed on the offensive end: the 53 points marked the first time since the 2022-23 season that the Panthers were held below 60 points.

Javonte Long (Harlem/Clayton H.S.) was the lone Panther in double figures, netting 14 points to go with 7 rebounds. Marqiis Samuels (Long Island/The Patrick School) and Jeremy Heady (Verplank/Hendrich Hudson H.S.) each had 9 points.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are back at it Sunday with another nationally ranked opponent, this time traveling to Utica to take on #3 Mohawk Valley Community College.
