After Slow Start, Panthers Cruise at Cayuga

After a slow start, the Panthers men's basketball team cruised to a big road win on Saturday, beating Cayuga Community College 81-53 to improve to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga falls to 2-9 overall and 2-2 in the MSAC.

An uneven first half ended with the Panthers up by just four points, 34-30. Things settled in the second half as the visitors ran to a 47-23 advantage and the comfortable win.

Javonte Long (Harlem/Clayton H.S.) led the team with 19 points to go with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Kobe Nwosu (Spring Valley/North Rockland H.S.) had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Doghor (Orlando, Fla./University H.S.) and Malachi Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Central H.S.) each had 12 points.

The Panthers travel to SUNY Broome Sunday.
