• Cross Country Season Ends at Regional Championships

    Racing at the NJCAA Region 3 championship, Tompkins Cortland Community College’s Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) finished with a time of 44:12 over the 8K course. The sophomore’s pace was 8:54 per mile and resulted with a 38th place finish. The event was hosted by Finger Lakes Community College. Omar Mohamed from Mohawk Valley Community College won the event with a time of 27:11.

    Sophomore Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) finished 14th at the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday. Morey covered the 8K course in 46:32, averaging crossed the line with a time of 44:39. The event was hosted by Corning Community College. The host school’s Hayden Allington won the race with a time of 30:26. SUNY Broome won the team event.

    Running in the rain on a wet and slow course, two runners represented Tompkins Cortland Community College at the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday. Masai White (Syracuse/Institute of Technology) led the Panthers with a time of 36:44, good for 67th place on the 8K course. Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) came in 73rd with a time of 46:14.

    Two runners represented Tompkins Cortland Community College at the highly competitive Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday. Anvil Illsley (Berkshire/Newark Valley H.S.) led the Panthers with a time of 35:04 over the 8K course. Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) crossed the line with a time of 44:39.

    Tompkins Cortland Community College wrapped up its cross country season Saturday by taking part in the NJCAA Region 3 championship at Finger Lakes Community College. Racing in a field of 57 runners, Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) was the first Panther to cross the finish line, completing the 8K course in a time of 38:24. Morey finished in 46th place. Teammate Dowain Geesey (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) was 55th with a time of 46:49.

    Freshman Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) was the lone runner representing Tompkins Cortland Community College at the Mid-State Athletic Conference cross country championship Saturday in Corning. With a total of 29 racers from the six MSAC schools with cross country programs, Morey crossed the finish line of the 8-kilometer course with a time of 39:05, good for 26th place. The team race was won by SUNY Broome, with Connor Smith the overall individual champion with a time of 28:56.
  • Tompkins Cortland Hosts Panther Invitational

    Tompkins Cortland Community College hosted the Panther Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, welcoming runners from Onondaga Community College, Jefferson Community College, and Corning Community College. In the team competition, Onondaga edged Corning 27 to 28. The individual male winner was Hayden Allington from Corning with a time of 22:31 over the six-kilometer course. Onondaga’s Eva Murphy won the four-kilometer women’s course with a time of 23:17.

    Taking part in the highly competitive Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday, three runners represented Tompkins Cortland Community College. Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) led the Panthers with a time of 35:07 over the 8K course, good for 149th place in the field that featured more than a dozen four-year schools. Scott Carlisle (Genoa/Rock Hill (S.C.)) was 169th with a tie of 43:25, followed by Dowain Geesey (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) at 46:09.

    Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) again led the Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country runners this week, finishing with a time of 40:01 for a 49th place finish at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College Saturday. Dowain Geesey (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) and Scott Carlisle (Genoa/Rock Hill (S.C.)) took 57th and 58th place in the 60-runner field.

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team opened the 2022 season at SUNY Cobleskill’s Steven A. Warde Invitational Saturday. With three runners participating, freshman Colin Morey (Groton/Groton H.S.) was the top male for the Panthers, finishing in 58th place out of 83 runners with a time of 38:49 over the 8-kilometer course. Sophomore Dowain Geesey (Lansing/Lansing H.S.) was the other male runner for the Panthers, crossing the line with a time of 45:51.

    For the first time in the history of the program, Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country took part in the national championship. Three men raced in the NJCAA Division III National Championship Saturday at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia.

    The Mid-State Athletic Conference cross country championships were hosted by Tompkins Cortland Community College Saturday. SUNY Broome won the team titles on both the men’s and women’s side while Broome’s Lucas Baker was the individual winner on the men’s side (17:58) and Leah Lloyd from Finger Lakes Community College was the top finisher on the women’s side (21:32).

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country teams toed the line with some top four-year programs on Saturday, taking part in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. Each of the five Panther runners posted season bests while racing in stacked fields that totaled nearly 400 total runners.

    Racing against Region 3 competition for the first time this season, the Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country teams had runners finished squarely in the middle of the field. Running at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College, Ariahna Metzler (Cincinnatus/Cincinnatus H.S.) led the Panthers and earned a top-ten finish by finishing 10th in the field of 20 of the women’s race. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) was the top man, crossing at 21st in the field of 42 on the men’s side.
  • Panthers Open Season at SUNY Cortland Short Course Invite

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team opened the 2021 season Saturday, taking part in the SUNY Cortland Short Course Invitational. Racing at Dwyer Park in Preble, the Panthers sent five runners, including the first two female runners in the history of the program. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) was the top male for the Panthers, running a 7:04 per mile pace and finishing the 6K course in a time of 26:19. Ariahna Metzler (Cincinnatus/Cincinnatus H.S.) was the top woman for Tompkins Cortland, covering the 4K course in in 21:21 (8:36 per mile). Both the men’s and women’s races were won by SUNY Cortland, followed by Oneonta State in second place. SUNY Oswego and Bryant and Stratton College also entered runners in the race.

All-Academic Team honors were given to Diego Castellot (Marathon/Marathon H.S.), Logan Kaufman (Hobart/South Kortright H.S.), and Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.).

Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.), Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.), Diego Castellot (Marathon/Marathon H.S.), Hyeonho Cho (Daejeon, South Korea/Sekwang H.S.), Logan Kaufman (Hobart/South Kortright H.S.), and Terry Paw (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) were recognized for their excellence in the classroom.
  • Lansing's Dowain Geesey Signs to Run for Panthers

    The Panthers Cross Country program is proud to announce the signing of Dowain Geesey to an NJCAA National Letter of Intent. Geesey has been running cross country for Lansing since sixth grade, progressing and developing into a strong runner for the Bobcats. A member of Lansing's Class of 2021, he has been involved with the Chess Club, Super Smash Brothers Club, and the school musicals while in high school.
  • Panthers Fourth at Region 3 Championship

    The 2020 cross country season concluded Saturday with Tompkins Cortland Community College finishing fourth at the Region 3 championship. The Panthers posted a team score of 94 to finish behind champion Finger Lakes Community College at 42 points and SUNY Broome and Corning Community College each with 48. Fulton-Montgomery Community College was fifth with 115 points.

    Racing at the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship, the Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team finished in third place. Finger Lakes Community College won the event with a score of 27 points, followed by Corning Community College with 34 points. The Panthers posted a team score of 67 points.
  • NJCAA Says 2020-21 Will Not Cost Student-Athletes Year of Eligibility

    Tompkins Cortland Community College student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics during the 2020-21 academic year will not use a year of eligibility, thanks to a decision by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The NJCAA ruling means student-athletes will retain their year of eligibility if they return to Tompkins Cortland following this academic year. Both the NCAA and NAIA, the governing bodies of intecollegiate athletics at the four-year level, have agreed to recognize the NJCAA ruling and not charse a year of eligibility for 2020-21 to any student-athlete that transfers on to a  four-year institution.

    For the second week in a row, the Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team brought home a second-place finish. Racing at the Corning Invite, Tompkins Cortland posted a season-best score of 37 points to finish as runner-up to Finger Lakes Community College (23 points). Fulton-Montgomery Community College was third with 63 points. Corning, Jamestown Community College, and Mohawk Valley Community College each had runners, but not full teams.

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team ran to its best finish of the year Saturday, taking second place at the Mohawk Valley Invite. After finishing in fourth place each of the first three weeks with an average score of 87, the Panthers posted a score of 48 to take second place. Finger Lakes Community College won the event with a score of 21. Fulton-Montgomery Community College was third with 64 points. Mohawk Valley and Jamestown Community College each had runners, but not full teams.

    Running on a beautiful fall day in Newark, the Tompkins Cortland Community College team finished fourth at the third week of the Region 3 cross country season. Taking part in the 5K Invite hosted by Finger Lakes Community College on their Newark campus, the Panthers posted a team score of 83 for the third straight fourth-place finish. Corning Community College won the event with a score of 39 with the host school right behind at 42. SUNY Broome was third with a score of 57. Fulton-Montgomery Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College each entered runners, but not enough to complete a full team.

    The second week of the cross country season saw improvement for the Tompkins Cortland Community College team. Running an 8K course at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, the Panthers finished fourth among the five teams entered. A total of seven schools sent runners to the invite, with Finger Lakes Community College winning the team event with a score of 44. Corning Community College was second with a 49, followed by SUNY Broome at 57. Tompkins Cortland was fourth at 96 and Fulton-Montgomery was fifth with a score of 10. Jamestown Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College each entered runners, but not enough to complete a full team.
  • Fall Season Starts with TC Panther XC Invite

    The only sport competing this fall in the NJCAA Region 3 saw its season get started Saturday at Tompkins Cortland Community College when the College hosted the TC Panthers Cross Country Invite. Using a new race format that had only one team on the course at a time, runners from six school participated. Corning Community College won the team event, Finger Lakes Community College runner Hunter Brignall posted the top time among men, and Fulton-Montgomery Community College runner Kira Williams finished with the best women’s time.
