The 2020 cross country season concluded Saturday with Tompkins Cortland Community College finishing fourth at the Region 3 championship. The Panthers posted a team score of 94 to finish behind champion Finger Lakes Community College at 42 points and SUNY Broome and Corning Community College each with 48. Fulton-Montgomery Community College was fifth with 115 points.

Racing on the Finger Lakes Community College campus for the second week in a row, five of the Panthers posted their best 8K time of the year. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) was once again the first Panther across the finish line, finishing with a PR of 31:12. The freshman was 13th overall, just one place out earning all-region honors. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 16th with a time of 36:30, followed by Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) in 23rd pace with a PR of 34:52. Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) finished in 28th place with tie of 36:05, another PR. Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) continued his impressive streak alive of improving his time each time he raced on this course, crossing the line in 31st place with a time of 37:24, the fifth straight time her has a set a PR on this course. Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) rounded out the PR parade with a time of 41:13, shaving more than two minutes off his time on the same course last week.

A season that started with so much uncertainty produced several highlights along with one certainty - the Panthers would toe the starting line with a full team and race to the best of their abilities. Only two teams in the region were able to compete in all seven meets this year, and thanks to hard work and strict adherence to guidelines, the Panthers were one of them. And that's something this team should be proud of.
