Panthers Fourth Out of Five at Fulton-Montgomery Invite

Panthers take off from the start

The second week of the cross country season saw improvement for the Tompkins Cortland Community College team. Running an 8K course at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, the Panthers finished fourth among the five teams entered. A total of seven schools sent runners to the invite, with Finger Lakes Community College winning the team event with a score of 44. Corning Community College was second with a 49, followed by SUNY Broome at 57. Tompkins Cortland was fourth at 96 and Fulton-Montgomery was fifth with a score of 10. Jamestown Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College each entered runners, but not enough to complete a full team.

For the second week in a row, the Panthers were led by Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.). The freshman covered the four-loop course in a time of 31:56, the 12th fastest individual on the day. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 19th overall at 34:18 and Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) was 24th with a time of 36:56. Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) was 29th with a time of 39:30, just three second and one place ahead of Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.). Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) crossed the line at 45:46.

The Panthers continue the Region III season on Saturday, September 26 at the Finger Lakes Community College Newark campus.
