Panthers Finish Second at Mohawk Valley Invite

The Tompkins Cortland Community College cross country team ran to its best finish of the year Saturday, taking second place at the Mohawk Valley Invite. After finishing in fourth place each of the first three weeks with an average score of 87, the Panthers posted a score of 48 to take second place. Finger Lakes Community College won the event with a score of 21. Fulton-Montgomery Community College was third with 64 points. Mohawk Valley and Jamestown Community College each had runners, but not full teams.

Along with the best team result, each individual had their best finish. Elliott Holland (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen H.S.) finished in the top ten for the first time, coming in at 8th with a time of 20:41 on the 5K course. Robert Brehm (Groton/Groton H.S.) also had his first top ten finish of the season, coming in 10th with a time of 21:20. Kyle Brown (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) was two places back at 12th with a time of 22:13. Andrew McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) outkicked Elijah Griep (Groton/Groton H.S.) for 18h place with a time of 23:20, just three seconds ahead of his teammate. Tanner Sorbera (Burlington Flats/Edmeston H.S.) was 22nd with a 28:33 and Keiyondre Lester (Oxford, Miss./Oxford H.S.) clocked a time of 34:16 for 23rd place.

The Panthers are scheduled to run next at the Corning Community College Invite on Saturday, October 10.
