Fann Named Head Coach
Women's Basketball

After four years with the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball program, Jocelin Wright has accepted a coaching job at the NCAA Division I level. Wright, who has been the Panthers head coach for the last two seasons, has joined the coaching staff at Colgate University. Willie Fann, who served as an assistant to Wright during the 2024-25 season, has been appointed the new head coach at TC3.

"As much as we work to make the dreams of our student athletes come true, it's just as important that we help our colleagues grow to achieve their personal and professional goals," said TC3 Director of Athletics Mick McDaniel. "In just a few years' time, Coach Wright has gone from a new assistant coach at TC3 to leading our program as head coach to being hired at NCAA Division I Colgate University. I am incredibly happy for Jocelin and thankful for the time that she's spent with us at Tompkins Cortland."

Fann brings exceptional experience to the sideline. Prior to his year on the Panthers staff, he spent 12 years leading the Binghamton High School girls basketball team, winning multiple Coach of the Year awards and leading the Patriots to the Section IV Championship in 2023. A two-sport athlete while in college himself, he understands the demands on student-athletes, and is committed to helping his players and the program reach new heights. "We are looking to field a competitive team that not only thrives on the court and in the community, but also in the classroom," he said. "I am excited for this opportunity. The atmosphere at TC3 is so friendly, with faculty and staff that genuinely care about the students. We have a strong incoming class, who, along with our returning players, will be ready to do exciting things this year!"

"Since Coach Fann joined our team here in TC3 Athletics last year, we have all felt the positive energy and excitement he brings to our program," said McDaniel. "We are blessed to have him step into the Head Coach role, and I know our student-athletes are very eager to get out on the court with him this fall!"
