An upset bid ran out of steam for the Tompkins Cortland women's basketball team on Saturday as the Panthers were forced to play most of the fourth quarter shorthanded, ultimately falling by a final of 63-54 to #15-ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Saturday. Tompkins Cortland drops to 6-7 on the season while Mohawk Valley improves to 10-3.

The Panthers started the game with seven players, but played half of the fourth quarter with just four and ended the game with just three on the court due to an injury and fouls. After leading by as many as eight points in the second half and 44-43 at the end of three quarters, the lead slipped away in the fourth.

Amarionah Dixon (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) had another double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Tatyanna George (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Thalia Jackson (Glendale, Ariz./Raymond S. Kellis H.S.) chipped in 12 points.

The Panthers play at Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Sunday.
