The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team returned to action after the winter break, traveling to Rochester for a matchup against Division II-Monroe Community College. Playing for the first time in four weeks, the Panthers fell to the Tribunes 76-56. The Panthers are now 4-5 overall. Monroe is 8-8.

A slow start did in the Panthers. Monroe scored the first seven points en route to an 18-5 first quarter lead. The home team stretched the margin to 45-20 at the half, but Tompkins Cortland started to play better after the break. The Panthers outscored the Tribunes in both the third and fourth quarters, finishing with a 21-point fourth quarter.

Amarionah Dixon (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) put up big numbers for the Panthers, posting a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds. Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) added 12 points to go with five steals, four assists, and two rebounds.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are home this weekend for a pair of Region 3 games: Saturday against SUNY Adirondack and Sunday against Hudson Valley Community College.
