Panthers Women Fall By One at Elmira

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team came out on the losing end of a one-point game on Tuesday, falling on the road to the Elmira College JV, 55-54. With the loss, the Panthers head into the winter break with a record of 4-4.

The game was tied at 9-9 after one quarter, and Elmira led 24-21 at the half. The Panthers responded with a good third quarter to move in front 39-34, but Elmira outscored the Panthers 21-15 in the final quarter to pull out the 55-54 win.

Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) had a huge night, scoring a career-high 29 points that included making five 3-pointers. The sophomore added 5 steals and 2 rebounds to her stat line. Amarionah Dixon (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) had her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down 20 rebounds. The freshman also added 3 steals and 3 blocks.

Looking ahead

The Panthers have a long break for the holidays. The team returns to action on January 10 at Monroe Community College.
