Panthers Women Top Broome 57-48

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team made it two wins in a row with a 57-48 victory over SUNY Broome on Saturday. The home victory improves the Panthers to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome drops to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the MSAC.

The game opened with back-and-forth action that featured five lead changes over the first seven minutes. With just over three minutes left in the first quarter, Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) drained a 3-pointer to put the Panthers up 15-13. A possession later, she drained another, giving the Panthers their biggest lead of the quarter at 18-13. A late Broome bucket made the score 18-15 at the first break. The home team added to lead each quarter the rest of the way, moving ahead 34-27 at the half, 45-37 after three, and 57-48 at the final horn.

Amarionah Dixon (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) filled up the stat sheet for the Panthers, finishing with 21 points, 18 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 blocks, and an assist. Wilbur added 16 points, 7 steals, and 5 rebounds, and Sindiswa Pinckney (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) was a force in the paint with 12 rebounds and a pair of blocks. Abby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.) led the team with 4 assists.
