A tight game at halftime got away from the Panthers Saturday as the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team lost at Cayuga Community College 56-33. Tompkins Cortland is now 4-15 overall and 2-11 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga now stands at 6-16 overall and 6-8 in the MSAC.

The two teams were tied at 8-8 after the first quarter, and the halftime margin was just five points with the Spartans up 23-18. But in the third quarter, Cayuga outscored the Panthers 16-2 to take control. The final quarter was another tight one, with just four points separating the teams, but the outcome was sealed in the third.

Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) was the lone Panther in double figures with 11 points. She added 7 rebounds, 4 stelas, and 3 assists. Angelina Oliver (Moravia/Moravia H.S.) scored 9 points on a trio of 3-pointers and Morgan Gunn (Groton/Groton H.S.) had 6 points.
