Friday was a rough night for the Tompkins Cortland women's basketball team as a combination of poor shooting and taking 20 less free throws than their opponent was too much to overcome.  The result was a 50-30 loss to SUNY Broome, dropping the Panthers to 4-14 overall and 2-10 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome now stands at 12-8 overall and 8-4 in the MSAC.

The lead changed sides three times in a sloppy first quarter, with each team turning the ball over eight times in a loosely called ten minutes that ended with Broome up 13-8. After a the two teams combined for three foul shots in the first quarter, the visiting team made 10 trips to the foul line in the second quarter alone. The score was 29-11 at the half and 42-20 after three quarters as the Panthers were unable to find any rhythm. A big discrepancy in fouls didn't help, with Broome taking 23 foul shots by the end of the game, compared to just 3 for the home team.

On the offensive end of the floor, Madison Kelly (Moravia/Moravia H.S.) and Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.) scored all but two of the team's points. Kelly had a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Wilbur finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Adrianna Royce (Newfield/Newfield H.S.) and Simone Smith (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) each collected double figures in rebounds, with 11 and 10, respectively.
