Playing on the road brings several challenges. For the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team, one of the biggest challenges during Saturday's trip to SUNY Adirondack was trying to overcome foul trouble. In the end, it was too much to overcome as Adirondack handed the Panthers a 57-43 defeat. The loss drops the Panthers to 3-15 overall. Adirondack is now 4-15.

Already missing three recent starters from the lineup, the Panthers had a tough time keeping the players they wanted on the floor. By the final horn, four Panthers had fouled out as the refs whistled Tompkins Cortland for 29 fouls compared to 12 against Adirondack. The disparity was even more drastic at the foul line: the home team took more free throws in the third quarter alone then the visitors took in the entire game. The final stats showed Adirondack took 40 free throws while Tompkins Cortland went to the line 15 times.

Ashley Shortsleeve (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including making five 3-pointers. K'Anndra Rhoden (Brentwood/Brentwood H.S.) posted 11 points, 8 steals, and 7 rebounds before leaving the game as one of the Panthers to foul out.

On Wednesday, the Panthers play at Onondaga Community College.
