Win Streak Snapped at Five Games

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an abrupt end Wednesday. Playing at Onondaga Community College, the Panthers lost 80-45 for their first defeat in more than three weeks. Tompkins Cortland is now 6-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 13-8 overall. Onondaga is 9-1 in the MSAC and 21-5 overall.

Onondaga led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Panthers 25-11 in the second to lead 39-22 at the half. Onondaga extended the lead with a 17-13 advantage in third quarter and a final quarter win of 24-10.

Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) ended the game with 15 points to lead the Panthers. MacKenzie Kenyon (Ovid/South Seneca H.S.) had 12 points and Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds to go with 8 blocks. Tatiana Minnick (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) finished with 9 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.

The Panthers look to get back on track Saturday at home against Cayuga Community College. The Panthers and Spartans tip off at noon.
