The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team had won eight straight home games entering Friday's contest with North Country Community College, a streak that dated back to December 2016. Like all good things, the streak had to end sometime, and that sometime was Friday when the Panthers went down in defeat 73-55 to the Saints. The loss drops the Panthers to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Region III (Division III). North Country improves to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in region.

The Panthers struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting just 31% from the floor, including making just 1-of-14 from three-point range. The Saints outscored the home team in each quarter and held a ten-point lead at 35-25 at the half. The Panthers couldn't get any closer than eight points in the second half as the Saints steadily pulled away for the win.

MacKenzie Kenyon (Ovid/South Seneca H.S.) again led the team in scoring, pouring in 17 points. Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) had 13 points, 3 boards, and 3 blocks and Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) had 12 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 7 points.

It's a quick turnaround for the Panthers as the team hosts Clinton Community College Saturday at 2 p.m.
