Panthers Remain Perfect in Region with Win at Herkimer

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team remained perfect in regional games with a 67-47 win at Herkimer College Tuesday. The Panthers are now 3-1 overall and 3-0 in Region III (Division III). Herkimer falls to 1-4 overall and in region.

Playing on the road for the first time in regional play, the Panthers looked at home while racing to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter. The margin grew to 38-13 by the half, and an early run to open the third quarter pushed the lead over 30 points, effectively sealing the final outcome.

Sophomore Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) had a great night, scoring a career-high 24 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. Freshman MacKenzie Kenyon (Ovid/South Seneca H.S.) finished with 11 points and 3 assists while classmate Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) led the team on the glass with 13 rebounds and Tatiana Minnick (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) had the team lead with 6 assists and 2 steals.

The Panthers return home for a pair of games this weekend, starting with a 5 p.m. game Friday against North Country Community College. A 2 p.m. Saturday game with Clinton Community College caps the weekend for Tompkins Cortland
