Panthers Roll Past Schenectady

The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's basketball team picked up a second straight win Tuesday, cruising past Schenectady County Community College 63-41. The win improves Tompkins Cortland to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in Region III, Division III games. Schenectady is now 1-1 overall and in region.

The outcome was never in doubt, as the Panthers led 15-9 after the first quarter and 31-18 at the half. The third quarter opened with Tompkins Cortland going on a 15-0 run, holding the Royals off the board for more than five minutes. The visitors never challenged as the Panthers were able to get significant playing time for all 12 players in uniform.

MacKenzie Kenyon (Ovid/South Seneca H.S.) put together another solid stat line, finishing with 18 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) was limited by foul trouble to just 17 minutes of play, but she still posted 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Reyanah Brown (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) also just missed a double-double with 15 rebounds and 8 points, and Taylor Day (Brooktondale/Ithaca H.S.) had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Tatiana Minnick (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) handed out 8 assists to go with 5 steals, and 4 rebounds.

The Panthers hit the road for the next game, Tuesday, November 14 at Herkimer College.
