Playing in Dryden for the first time this year, the Tompkins Cortland Community College softball team couldn't put any runs across the plate, dropping a doubleheader to Jefferson Community College, 17-0 and 14-0. Tompkins Cortland is now 0-8. Jefferson stands at 9-8.

Game One: Jefferson 17, Tompkins Cortland 0  (5 innings)

The Panthers managed just one hit in the opener – a leadoff single by Abby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.). After she reached to start the bottom of the first inning, the Panthers were set down in order the rest of the way. The Cannoneers meanwhile were putting runs on the board in each inning, blasting for home runs along the way.

Game Two: Jefferson 14, Tompkins Cortland 0  (5 innings)

In game two the Panthers again collected a hit in the first inning, this time a single by Aliana Hart (Fort Covington/Salmon River H.S.). Marybeth Ortlieb (Cortland/Home Schooled) and Lana Thousand (Onondaga/Onondaga H.S.) delivered base hits and Gabby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.), but no Panther made it to past first base. Jefferson put five runs on the board in the first and added on the rest of the way, ultimately plating 14 and ending the game early due to the run rule.

Looking ahead

Next up for the Panthers is a home doubleheader with Monroe Community College on Sunday.
