A strong effort kept the game close, but the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team eventually fell by a final of 3-0 to #2-ranked Herkimer College Sunday. The Panthers are now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in Region 3. Herkimer improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in region.

The visiting Generals scored all three goals in the first half, enjoying a 12-2 advantage in shots. The Panthers defense stiffened in the second half, keeping the scoresheet clean and limiting Herkimer to just five shots over the final 45 minutes.

Goalkeeper Jeremy McGrath (Henderson Harbor/Belleville Henderson H.S.) had a good game for the Panthers, recording seven saves.

The Panthers host Mohawk Valley Community College Thursday at 4 p.m.
