Panthers Advance in Region 3 Men's Playoffs

For the first time since 2009, the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team is advancing in the NJCAA Region 3 playoffs. The #8-seed Panthers earned an opening round win on Sunday, edging #8-seed SUNY Adirondack on the road, 69-67. Tompkins Cortland is now 13-11 overall. Adirondack ends its season with a record of 14-13.

The Panthers held a 36-30 lead after the first half and held on for the two-point win. Tysheen Lott (Buffalo/Health Science Center) had a season-high with 24 points along with four rebounds and three assists to pace the offense. Joel Davis (Watertown/Watertown H.S.) had another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, adding three assists and three blocks. Makai Reed (Syracuse/Syracuse Academy of Science) just missed a double-double of his own with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Looking ahead

The Panthers advance to take on to-seed Mohawk Valley Community College in the NJCAA Region 3 quarterfinals. The game will be held Wednesday in Utica.
