The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team suffered through a difficult night on all fronts Wednesday, losing to Cayuga Community College 81-54. Tompkins Cortland drops to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga is 5-9 overall and 4-4 in the MSAC.

Nothing went right for the Panthers, right from the start of the game. Cayuga scored the first nine points of the game before the home team finally got on the board nearly four minutes into the game. On a night when not much went right, the Panthers weren't able to muster any real threat as the Spartans pushed the lead to 14 points at the half and never looked back.

Tysheen Lott (Buffalo/Health Science Center) led the Panthers in scoring with 12 points, all in the first half. Joel Davis (Watertown/Watertown H.S.) was the top rebounder for the home team with 11 boards.

Looking ahead

The Panthers play at Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday before returning home on Sunday to host Jefferson Community College.
