A 17-0 run late in the second half powered the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team past SUNY Broome in a Mid-State Athletic Conference game on Saturday. The 74-62 win improves the Panthers to 3-2 overall and in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome is now 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the MSAC.

Broome took the early lead, but a 14-point swing over the span of four minutes in the middle of the half moved the Panthers from down seven to up seven. The halftime score had the Panthers up 30-26.

The lead grew to ten early in the second half, but Broome battled back to take the lead at 42-41 six minutes into the half. The lead changed hands a few times before the Panthers eased ahead at 52-47. After a Broome 3-pointer cut the margin to 52-50, a Cameron Thompson (Syracuse/Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central) three-point play kick-started a 17-0 run that put the Panthers up 69-50 with under four minutes left to play. The lead was more than enough as the Panthers closed out their second win a row.

Joel Davis (Watertown/Watertown H.S.) led all scorers with 17 points while also posting 8 rebounds, 3 assists, a block, and a steal. Kai McCullough (Rochester/East H.S.) added 14 points and a team-best 5 steals to go with 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Thompson finished the game with 9 points – including 5-for-5 on free throws – all coming in the second half.
