After holding the lead through the first half on Sunday, the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team couldn't finish the job, losing 77-68 at Onondaga Community College. The loss drops Tompkins Cortland to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga is 17-2 overall and 7-1 in the MSAC.

The Panthers lead through the first 20 minutes, taking a 42-34 lead into the halftime break. But Onondaga opened the second half with a 14-2 run to erase the lead and move the Lazers in front. The Panthers finally got things moving in the second half, keeping the game within reach, but couldn't come all the way back to pull out the win.

Justin Sykes (Harlem/Lyons Community School) had another big game offensively, scoring a team-high 25 points.

Looking ahead

The Panthers look to get back on track when they head to Corning for a Wednesday game with the Red Barons.
