For just the third time this season, the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team shot below 30% from the floor on Wednesday. And, just as the first two games, the result was a loss for the Panthers. The 97-71 to Corning Community College leaves the Panthers with a record of 4-15 overall and 1-9 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Corning is now 13-9 overall and 7-2 in the MSAC.

The lid was on the basket for the home team from the opening tip, as the Panthers made just 29.5% in the first half and 29.3% in the second. On the other end, Corning made 54.3% for the game, helping the Red Barons take a lead early and pull away throughout the game.

Devonte Henry (Brooklyn/Boys and Girls H.S.) was the leading scorer for the Panthers, putting up 20 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Derek Brower (Queens/Half Hollow Hills West H.S.) finished with 11 points and Brandan Paul (Middletown/Progress H.S.) approached a double-double, finishing with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Panthers head out on the road this weekend for a non-conference game at SUNY Adirondack.
