After putting up 51 points in the first half, the Tompkins Cortland men's basketball team went cold in the second, adding only 25 points and losing 94-76 to Finger Lakes Community College Wednesday. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the MSAC.

The first twenty minutes featured a combined 99 points for the two teams, with five different players reaching double figures in scoring before halftime. The Panthers made nearly 55% from the floor, with the Lakers not far behind at 48%. The second half was more of the same for Finger Lakes, with the visitors showing a slight increase in their shooting to finish the game at 50% from the floor. Things were not quite as nice for the Panthers. Coming out of the locker room, the home team held the lead through the first six minutes of the half before the things started to turn cold. Over a five-minute span midway through the half, the Panthers saw a one-point lead turn into an 11-point deficit. Trailing 79-68 with 8:45 left, the now cold-shooting Panthers couldn't mount any real threat the rest of the way.  After scorching the twine in the first half, Tompkins Cortland made just 36% in the second half, including no 3-pointers.

Jaiden Allen (Marlboro/Marlboro H.S.) led the Panthers with 18 points followed by Devonte Henry (Brooklyn/Boys and Girls H.S.) with 17 and 6 rebounds. Phillip Harris (Brooklyn/Research and Science H.S.) had 14 points and Vernell Reid (Syracuse/Bishop Ludden H.S.) finished with 13.

The Panthers host North Country Community College Sunday at 2 p.m. It is the final game of the fall semester for Tompkins Cortland.
