Panthers Men Fall to Broome For Second Time in Three Days

After losing at home on Friday, the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team traveled to SUNY Broome looking for revenge on Sunday. Instead, the Panthers lost by a final of 80-70, marking the second time in three days the Panthers have fallen to the Hornets. Tompkins Cortland is now 6-13 overall and 1-7 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference while Broome improves to 6-15 overall and 3-5 in the MSAC.

The Hornets outscored the Panthers by five points in each half, holding a 37-32 lead at the half before winning the second half 43-38. Jaquan Baron (Bronx/Mott Haven Campus H.S.) led Tompkins Cortland with 14 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. Tahleek Weekes (South Queens/Construction H.S.) had 13 points and 8 boards and Mario Antenor (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Coconut Creek) had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Shakel Cofield (Westbury/Westbury H.S.) added 8 points and 6 rebounds.

The Panthers look to snap a season-worst five-game losing streak when they return home Wednesday to host Corning Community College at 5 p.m.
