A good night offensively for the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team wasn't enough to overcome an even better night for the Cayuga Community College offense as the Panthers fell to the Trojans 98-86 Wednesday. The loss drops the Panthers to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga improves to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in the MSAC.

The Panthers fell behind big early, trailing 45-21 at the half. After the break the Panthers caught fire, putting up an astounding 65 points, but it wasn't enough as Cayuga poured in 53 points to hold the Panthers off through the final horn.

Tahleek Weekes (South Queens/Construction H.S.) and Jonathan Baker (Staten Island/Curtis H.S.) each scored 23 points to pace the Panthers. Shareef Ali (Queens/Martin Van Buren H.S.) tossed in 18 points for Tompkins Cortland.

The Panthers return home Saturday to host Finger Lakes Community College at 2 p.m.
