Panthers Overwhelmed at Corning

The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team got ran out of the gym Tuesday, losing at Corning Community College 116-74. The Panthers drop to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference while Corning improves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the MSAC.

The two teams combined to score 110 points in the first half, with Corning taking a 66-44 lead in the locker room. The scoring slowed a bit in the second half, but the Red Barons still put 50 in the board to end with the big point total.

Jonathan Baker (Staten Island/Curtis H.S.) finished the game with 24 points for the Panthers, including 22 in the first half. Anthony Simpson (Bay Shore/Bay Shore H.S.) had 12 points along with 3 assists and 3 steals. Tahleek Weekes (South Queens/Construction H.S.) also had 12 points and Shareef Ali (Queens/Martin Van Buren H.S.) tossed in 11 points.

The Panthers return home Saturday to host Onondaga Community College at noon.
