The bats were quiet on Tuesday as the Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team was swept at home by Genesee Community College, 11-1 and 11-0. Tompkins Cortland is now 3-17 overall on the year. Genesee improves to 15-17.

Game One: Genesee 11, Tompkins Cortland 1  (6 innings)

The Panthers couldn't get much going in game one. The team managed just three hits and six baserunners. The lone run came in the fourth inning, and came as a result a pair of errors.

On the other side of things, Genesee put runners on base via 12 hits, 6 walks, 4 errors, and 4 hit-by-pitch. The Cougars scored runs in five of the six innings, pushing past the ten-run rule margin in the sixth.

Jacob Bogacz (Morrisville/Morrisville-Eaton H.S.) accounted for two of the three hits for the Panthers. Brayden Ferris (Candor/Candor H.S.) had the other hit. Parker Stein (Spencerport/Spencerport H.S.) took the loss on the mound.

Game Two: Genesee 11, Tompkins Cortland 0   (5 innings)

The bats were quiet in the opener, but they went silent in the nightcap. Dan Caverly (Farmington/Victor H.S.) had the only hit, a double in the third inning, but couldn't advance past second base. The biggest threat came in the fifth, thanks to two walks and a hit batter, but a strikeout left the bases loaded without a run coming across.

Shane Smith (Groton/Groton H.S.) started on the mound and was charged with the loss.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are back home on Thursday hosting SUNY Broome starting at 2 p.m.
