Panthers Volleyball Goes the Distance at Cayuga

The Tompkins Cortland volleyball team played just its second five-set match of the year Monday, going the distance before losing 3-2 at Cayuga Community College. The Panthers are now 3-15 overall and 0-6 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Cayuga is 1-23 and 1-5 in conference.

The Panthers started strong but couldn't quite put the Spartans away. After winning the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22, the Panthers came up just short in the next two, losing 25-22 and 27-25. The decisive set went to Cayuga 15-7.

Molly Baker (Newark Valley/Newark Valley H.S.) finished with 13 kills and 3 blocks. Natasha Feocco (Dryden/Newfield H.S.) handed out 24 assists while pulling out 10 digs. Madison Hartenstein (Newark Valley/Newark Valley H.S.) had 8 digs and 4 aces, and Kayla Scuderi (Deposit/Deposit H.S.) had 8 digs. Kadija Hill-Custis (Syracuse/Fowler H.S.) added 7 kills.

The Panthers wrap up the season Saturday at Genesee Community College.
