Taking on one of the top teams in the region on the road, the Panthers women's soccer team came home with an 8-1 loss to Jefferson Community College Sunday. The Panthers are now 0-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson is 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the MSAC.
The Panthers came out fast, putting together a few nice runs in the opening minutes of play. After those came away empty, Jefferson turned the tide with a score on their first real chance. The Cannoneers took the momentum, scoring five quick goals before the Panthers finally broke through with a goal by Emma Lobdell (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) late in the half. The game went to the break with the home team up 6-1. A pair of goals in the second half made the final 8-1.
Emily McCracken (Truxton/Penn Foster Online) had 14 saves in goal for the Panthers.
Looking ahead
The Panthers are back home Friday to host North Country Community College.
