After falling behind 2-0, the Panthers women's soccer team rallied back and nearly pulled off a come-from-behind win, settling for a 2-2 tie with Corning Community College Wednesday. The Panthers are now 0-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Corning is 0-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the MSAC.
Corning took a 2-0 lead with a pair of first-half goals, but Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) cut the deficit in half with a blast from 30 yards out just a few minutes before the halftime break. The equalizer came ten minutes into the second half, with Lauren Reeves (Cortland/Groton H.S.) sliding one past the keeper off an assist from Rylan Robicheaux (Mathews, La./Central Lafourche H.S.). The Panthers pressured the rest of the way and had a chance for the victory in the closing minutes, but came up just short of the winner.
Emily McCracken (Truxton/Penn Foster Online) had six saves, as the Panthers picked up their first tie in three seasons.
Looking ahead
