For the second straight game, the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team came up just short, falling 2-1 against SUNY Niagara. The Panthers are now 0-4 on the season; Niagara improves to 1-3.

Playing on their home field, the Thunderwolves struck first, scoring twice in the first half. The Panthers cut into the deficit with a goal by Emma Lobdell (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) in the 65th minute, but couldn't push across the equalizer before the final horn.

Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) had an assist on the Lobdell goal. Emily McCracken (Truxton/Penn Foster Online) had eight saves, including one on a penalty kick.

Looking ahead

The Panthers are on the road again Saturday, playing at Jamestown Community College.
