Despite outshooting their opponent, the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team couldn't capitalize on enough chances, falling 2-1 to Finger Lakes Community College Saturday. The Panthers are now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes improves to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the MSAC.
The score was deadlocked at 0-0 after the first 45 minutes of play. In the second half the Panthers outshot the Lakers 13-7, but the home team managed to get two into the net. Finger Lakes took the lead in the second minute of the second half, and then added a second goal nine minutes later. After hitting the post several times, the Panthers finally got one past the keeper in the 78th minute when Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) converted an assist from Emma Lobdell (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) to cut the deficit in half. It proved to be the end of the4 scoring, and the comeback bid fell short.
Josslyn Wagner (Fabius/Fabius-Pompey H.S.) and Emily McCracken (Truxton/Penn Foster Online) split time in goal for the Panthers.
