Women Fall at Home to Herkimer

A second-half goal by Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) was the lone score for the Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team Sunday as the Panthers lost its home opener to Herkimer College, 12-1. Tompkins Cortland is now 0-2-0 while Herkimer improves to 2-1-1 on the season.

Herkimer netted five goals in the first half before adding seven more in the second. Tompkins Cortland's goal came in the 84th minute after Doane drew a foul in the box, earning a penalty kick. The freshman converted to avoid the shutout for the Panthers.

Josslyn Wagner (Fabius/Fabius-Pompey H.S.) had 15 saves in goal for the Panthers.

The Panthers play at Finger Lakes Community College Saturday.
