The Tompkins Cortland Community College women's soccer team evened its record on the year with a 1-0 win over Columbia-Greene Community College Tuesday in Dryden. The win, which snapped a two-game skid, improves the team's record to 2-2. Columbia-Greene drops to 1-6.

The ball spent nearly the entire first half in the offensive end for the Panthers. The team put pressure on the Twins from the start, finally breaking through with a goal when Brianna Allen (Marion/Marion H.S.) played a ball from a wing near midfield to a streaking Cristina Torres (Ellenville/Ellenville H.S.), who finished the play by beating the keeper for the goal.  Despite out-shooting the Twins 18-0 in the first half, Torres had the only goal, sending the game to the half at 1-0. The second half saw the Panthers control play again, this time out-shooting the Twins 14-2. Nevertheless, as was the case in the first half, the big number of shots didn't translate to more goals, as the final horn sounded with the score still 1-0.

While spending most of the game alone, Kerrin O'Shaughnessy (Worcester/Worcester H.S.) was called upon to make two saves in the second half. It was the sophomore's second win and first shutout of the year.

The Panthers open Mid-State Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a game at Onondaga Community College.
