A close game in the first half got away from the Panthers in the second half as Hudson Valley pulled away for an 85-50 final. The loss drops Tompkins Cortland to 1-2 overall and in Region 3. Hudson Valley is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the region.
The lead changed hands six times in the first quarter, with the horn sounding with Hudson Valley up 20-14. The Vikings held the lead all of the second quarter, but the Panthers kept it close, with the score 33-24 heading into halftime. The Vikings used a big third quarter to put the game out of reach, and then just added on in the fourth.
Rylan Robicheaux (Lockport, La./Central Lafourche H.S.) had a team-high 15 points, followed by Amyra Portillos (Sandia Park, N.M./Manzano H.S.) and Neroj Barwari (Union-Endicott/Union-Endicott H.S.) with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Cassie Doane (Candor/Owego Free Academy) hauled in 18 rebounds.
