In the top of the fifth, Tompkins Cortland put together a couple of walks with one out in front of Gabby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.), who drove a double to score the first run. A groundout by Aliana Hart (Fort Covington/Salmon River H.S.) scored the second run and made the score 9-2, getting the Panthers within the eight-run threshold to keep the game going.
