The Tompkins Cortland Community College softball team dropped to 0-4 on the season after getting swept by Herkimer College Saturday, 26-0 and 26-1. Herkimer improves to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in Region 3.

Game One: Herkimer 26, Tompkins Cortland 0  (3 innings)

The Panthers were never able to get anything going, and the game was stopped after three innings due to a pair of injuries that left the team with only eight players available to play. During the three innings, the Panthers managed just one baserunner, on a walk, add that runner was eliminated when she tried to advance on a pitch that got away from the catcher. On the other side, Herkimer pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of 14 walks to run away with the win.

Game Two: Herkimer 26, Tompkins Cortland 1  (5 innings)

The highlight of the day for the Panthers came in the second inning of game two. After the team was retired in order in the first inning, Austyn Vance (Nichols/Tioga H.S.) led off the second with a triple to right-center for Tompkins Cortland's first hit of the day. Lana Thousand (Onondaga/Onondaga H.S.) followed with single driving Vance in with the first run of the day. Thousand had another hit before the game ended, as did Abby Foley (Barton/Tioga H.S.), Karissa Wilbur (McGraw/McGraw H.S.), and Sara Cargen (Homer/Homer H.S.).
