
The 2022 softball season came to a close on Sunday with Tompkins Cortland traveling to Buffalo to take on Erie Community College. The Panthers lost the first game of the scheduled doubleheader 15-0 and then forfeited the second game due to an injury. The season ends for Tompkins Cortland with a record of 0-16. Erie is 19-14.
Game One: Erie 15, Tompkins Cortland 0 (5 innings)
The Panthers were limited to just two hits, but one went for extra bases. Abby Villnave (Homer/Homer H.S.) had a double to give her two on the season. She went 1-for-2 to raise her team-leading batting average to .370 on the season. Mackenzie Rochford (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) had the other hit on Sunday.
Game Two: Erie 7, Tompkins Cortland 0 (forfeit)
With just nine players on the trip and an injury to a player in game one, the Panthers were forced to forfeit game two.
