Panthers Snap Scoreless Streak But Still Fall Short

The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team broke its long scoreless drought with a nearly goal at Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday, but by the final horn the Panthers were on the losing end of a 10-2 score. The Panthers are now 1-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes improves to 4-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the MSAC.

The Panthers had the game's first score, with Stanley Wiggins (Wallyford, Scotland/Musselburgh) scoring off an assist from Jahmier Klee (Elmira/Elmira H.S.). The goal, the first for the Panthers since the opening game, snapped a stretch of more than 2905 minutes of play without a goal and made the score 1-0. Finger Lakes responded with five straight goals to end the half with a 5-1 lead over the Panthers. Four goals over her first ten minutes of the second half pushed the game out of reach, but the Panthers did come back with a goal by Max Hunt (Suffolk, England/The Chase School) off another assist by Klee in the 73rd minute. A final goal for the Lakers in the closing minutes made the ending score 10-2.

Joshua Long (Colchester, U.K./Mamingtree) had eight saves in goal for the Panthers.
