
The 2024 season got off to a hot start for the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team as the Panthers shutout Erie Community College 6-0 on Wednesday.
The scoring started early, with Stanley Wiggins (Wallyford, England/Musselburgh) breaking the ice with a goal in the eighth minute of play. Sergio Musson (Duivendrecht, Netherlands/Scholengemeenschap Reigersbos) followed with score in the 27th minute before Findlay Gordon (Dalkeith, Scotland/Dalkeith) made it 3-0 on a penalty kick three minutes later. Louis Elsom (London, England/Glenthorne) capped the first-half scoring with a header in the 34th minute.
Musson scored again in the 63rd minute, and then completed the scoring, and his personal hat trick, with a goal in the 69th minute. Wilson Mejia (Union Springs/Southern Cayuga H.S.), Max Hunt (Suffolk, England/Mildenhall College Academy), Jahmier Klee (Elmira/Elmira H.S.), and Kytrell Stroman (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) each had an assist in the win. Joshua Long (Colchester, U.K./Mamingtree) had two saves while posting the shutout in goal.
Looking ahead
The Panthers travel to Syracuse for a Mid-State Athletic Conference game with Onondaga Community College Saturday.
